Famously known as the “true birders haven”, Semuliki provides the quickest way to see congo-biome species . It is located on a low altitude of 670-760m above sea-level offering chances of low altitude restricted species such as: the African Piculet, Spot-breasted Ibis.
Other bird species found in this area include: White-throated Blue Swallow, Red-billed Helmet-shrike, Rufous-sided Broadbill, yellow-footed Flycatcher. It is also known as a home of hornbills, with species such as: Red-billed Dwarf Hornbill, Black Dwarf Hornbill, White-crested Hornbill, White-thighed Hornbill, Black-casqued Wattled Hornbill and others.
The park is also home to some of the rarest monkeys in Uganda; De Brazza’s Monkey, Semiliki Red Colobus, Dent’s Monkey.
